"The period of the winter peach is from October to mid February. Since it was introduced to the market a few years ago, it has been well received by the consumers and the market is gratifying. At present, the total area nationwide is 200,000 acres and is expected to increase about 20% this year," said Rongliang Zhao, the Chairman of the Cloud Crops Planting Farmers Cooperatives in Lanshan District of Linyi City.
"The increase in market supply does not pose too much of a threat to us, because, thanks to the unique taste of the winter peach, consumer demand is constantly increasing. Prices are expected to decline slightly compared with last year. However, we will strive to enhance the quality of the product, as well as the market awareness of our brand and maintain a stable sales price. Currently, our fixed prices are 5 yuan, 8 yuan and 15 yuan according to the different size specifications of the winter peach."
"Our acreage has expanded compared with last year. Our current plantation covers an area of about 10 thousand acres, and our annual output is expected to reach about 10 million jin. Our winter peach is sold under the brand of "Langya Feimi", not only to supermarkets and fruit shops in the first-tier cities, but we also will be, for the first time, exporting 500 tons to New Zealand this year through Qingdao port and Fengshan port of Shangdong province, to try out the Oceania market. In terms of sales channels, at this stage, online sales account for about 70% of our total sales. I believe that our winter peach will go further and further, helped by our own efforts as well as with funding and technical support from the government ."
