Honduras is the largest exporter of vegetables in Central America

Honduras, which increased vegetable exports by 10 percent between 2015 and 2016, is now the largest exporter of vegetables in Central America, stated Francisco Herrera, the coordinator of Agribusiness of the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (SAG).

The country exports its horticultural products to the United States; its main trading partner. Some of the products that stand out are the taro, cassava, cucumbers, gherkins, squashes, colored chilies, and oriental vegetables.

Horticultural exports earned the country some 76.6 million dollars. This year, these kind of exports are expected to continue increasing and amount to more than 80 million dollars.
