Staay-Van Rijn, part of the Staay Food Group from Papendrecht, has reached an agreement with Fresh Park Venlo about the realisation of a new trade location and logistics centre with a surface of 12,000 m2 yet to be developed.
The new accommodation will be developed a few hundred metres from the current location, near Gate 1 at Fresh Park Venlo, directly on the A73. The conditioned accommodation will be provided with 2,500 m2 cooling cells, a Cash & Carry trade location of 3,000 m3, and an office surface of 1,500 m2. The construction will be executed as sustainably as possible, and energy within the building will be (re)used optimally. The accommodation will be realised by Fresh Park Venlo BV in cooperation with logistical real estate developer Groep Heylen. The realisation will start mid-2017, and will be finished early in 2018. Staay-Rijn Cash & Carry will be expanded to a surface of 3,000 m2 in the new location.
In 2006, Staay-Van Rijn started with a location of 3,600 m2. In 2012 the company moved to a larger location of 7,000 m2. With the new construction planned, another step is taken. The expansion is necessary because of increasing company activities of Staay-Van Rijn from Venlo. Thanks to the broader assortment, the team and the location of Fresh Park Venlo (the logistical hotspot of the Netherlands) and the new accommodation, Staay-Van Rijn can further develop in coming years and anticipate new trends with healthy food, for which a leading part is meant for fruit and vegetables.
Fresh Park Venlo is a Fresh & Food business park of 130 hectares. This development once again proves the important function of Fresh Park Venlo as a fresh produce cluster for the Euro region and Germany. Fresh Park Venlo further develops itself as a complete Food Hub for the European market. This is partially possible due to the strategic position in relation to the ports of Rotterdam and Antwerp (trimodal quickly accessible for import reefers), the presence of conditioned warehouses and transport at Fresh Park Venlo, and the reliable delivery times to the German hinterland.
