Peru: Fresh plum imports increased in 2016

Fresh plum imports increased in 2016. According to data provided by AgrodataPeru, last year Peru imported 3,007,396 kilos of fresh plums at a CIF value of US $2,303,681. This number represents an increase over the 2,175,641 kilos worth $ 1,888,338 imported in 2015. 

According to AgrodataPeru, with the exception of 11,531 kilos of plums imported by Cencosud from the United States, all the plum was imported from Chile, which excels in the production of this fruit. 

The main importer was the Menflo Hermanos SAC company, which imported 536,200 kilos worth US $269,276. It was followed by Peque EIRL with 528,804 kg, Red Apples Export & Import EIRL (218,430 kg), Jacobo Richard Anthony (189,100 kg), Tootal Fresh Commercial Limited Liability Company (167,220 kg), Importadora y Exportadora Melfrut EIRL (156,250 kg), and Rosmil Premium Fruit Sociedad Anonima Cerrada (94,621 kg), among others. 

In total, there were 36 companies devoted to importing this fruit last year.

In 2015, the largest importer of fresh plums was Honey Fruit Import & Export, a company that is not listed in the 2016 ranking of these operations.
