6-week program
New Zealand kiwiberries available in US retail stores
Kiwiberries commence this week and retailers are excited to take advantage of the six-week program. More product will be shipped this year as consumers are showing a lot of interest in the product from the “home of the Kiwi”, New Zealand.
The majority of plantings are in the Bay of Plenty, located on the northern coast of the New Zealand’s North Island. This geographical location is world renowned for growing some of the world’s best “kiwi” fruit, with conditions ideal for a superior tasting product.
Convenient and versatile
According to Daniel Newport, Account Manager at shipper Pinnacle Fresh USA. “There is no surprise the Kiwiberry category is quickly growing, they’re such a convenient & versatile piece of fruit. Their small size and smooth hairless skin means they can be eaten just like a grape. Kiwiberries are naturally grown, rich in antioxidants, high in Vitamins A, C, E and a good source of calcium & iron. We pack in 4.4-ounce clamshells making them perfect for school lunches or as a snack at the office. Kiwiberry enthusiasts can also enjoy them in smoothies, cocktails, salads & entrees.”
“Kiwiberry sales are strongest when merchandised alongside the rest of the berry category. Their bright green colour compliments the display perfectly drawing more people into this growing category.”, says Daniel.
Air shipment
Pinnacle Fresh’s QC and Account manager, Jordan Dunlap confirms. “All shipments are sent via air on a direct flight from NZ to Los Angeles where they are distributed to customers around the country. In conjunction with Produce Partners NZ, we are excited to be working together on providing the best Kiwiberries to the US market”.
