Great prospects for China's organic ginger

"In recent years, people's preference for organic products has been rising. We have noticed in our sales that organic ginger sales are increasing year by year. In general, organic ginger yield is about 30% lower than conventional ginger, the market price is relatively high at a surplus of 40% to 60%. Part of the market is affected by commercial speculation," says Charlie, export manager at Anqiu Baisheng Food.

"We are a private company enterprise located in Shandong. We grow organic and conventional ginger on 30 and 150 hectares respectively. Our ginger crop is exported to the EU, USA, Canada, the Middle East and Southeast Asia. In addition, we grow yam, taro and a number of vegetables for the EU market."

"In China, people believe that eating ginger has numerous health benefits. Organic ginger possesses these functions stronger. Ginger can help battling colds and abdominal pain. I believe that also abroad the qualities of ginger are more and more known and appreciated."
