China: Guangxi province fruit output up

According to the agricultural statistics, in 2016 Guangxi fruit production exceeded 15 million tons, a growth of 10%, with an output value of over $45 billion, an increase of 40%. The thriving production and sales broke records with an average yield of 1 ton per acre with an output value of 3000 yuan.

Prices were good too, which was a strong contributing factor in pushing output up to a new level.

On the eve of the Spring Festival, the acquisition price of sugar orange per kilogram reached 9-10 yuan (1,20 euro), higher than it has ever been.

The production of litchi also increased steadily, with prices 20-30% higher than last year; longan production increased by 15%; mango prices were up 10% and red pitaya production increased by 50%. Passion fruit has been selling at a high price as well, and is still in short supply.
