The Wonderful Company scores with two Super Bowl ads

The Wonderful Company™ scores twice at Super Bowl LI with commercial spots from two of its iconic brands, Wonderful® Pistachios and FIJI® Water. Wonderful Pistachios returns to the big game for the third time with a new commercial that’s part of the brand’s biggest “Get Crackin’” advertising campaign ever, featuring Ernie the Elephant. This pistachio-loving, health-conscious, hilarious, computer-generated spokes-elephant who refuses to work for peanuts, debuted in the fall and is voiced by WWE Superstar John Cena (“Trainwreck,” and Fox’s “American Grit”). 

“Whether you’re a sports fanatic, armchair quarterback or game day snacker, viewers will relate to Ernie’s humorous attempt to get in shape at the gym with Wonderful Pistachios,” said Cena. “As one of the lowest-calorie and highest protein nuts, Wonderful Pistachios offers game day viewers a healthy and delicious alternative to typical sports snacks.”



And for the first time ever, FIJI Water will be part of the Super Bowl festivities, reminding football fans about this healthy, natural beverage option and the importance of staying hydrated on game day. The “Nature’s Gift” commercial tells the story behind the water’s unique mineral profile and refreshing taste. FIJI Water is bottled at its source on the island of Viti Levu at an ancient aquifer deep within the earth where it remains protected from external impurities. The commercial highlights this 'untouched' element by showing the beautiful, tranquil Fiji landscape overlaid against complicated, urban cityscapes.

The airing of FIJI’s commercial comes on the heels of the brand’s recent bottle redesign and year of double digit growth. Last month, the company announced a new, fresh look for the bottles. With this new slim, sleek design, FIJI’s 330mL, 500mL and 700mL bottles will now fit everywhere, effortlessly. This includes the primary consumption occasion for bottled water, in the car, as well as fitness equipment, gym bags and beyond. The 1L bottle, found in-store or in fine dining establishments, has also received the new fresh look. 

Both commercials were created by The Wonderful Company’s in-house creative team, Wonderful Agency. Ernie the Elephant was animated by Moving Picture Company (MPC), the Academy Award-winning global creative studio behind VFX for Disney’s recent hit film “The Jungle Book.” The FIJI Water spot was produced by Elastic, the Emmy®-Award winning team behind the “True Detective” title sequence. 



“Since Ernie made his debut this fall, not only has sales volume increased 35 percent, he’s become a big deal, hanging out with Seattle Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman, jet-setting, and partying with the Squirrel Sisters, all while expressing his love for pistachios,” said Michael Perdigao, president, Wonderful Agency. “The Super Bowl is the perfect place for Ernie to show off his workout regimen, while consumers are working on their game day snacks. In addition to spotlighting healthy snacks with Wonderful Pistachios, this national platform is the ultimate setting for FIJI Water’s first Super Bowl appearance, reminding viewers of healthy beverage options during the game, as well as the smooth, soft taste of FIJI Water.”
