Record increase in Ukrainian frozen raspberry exports

In the period from January to November 2016, the exports of Ukrainian frozen raspberries reached a record level. During the period at hand, the volume shipped exceeded 6.5 thousand tonnes and was nearly three times greater than in the corresponding 11 months of the previous year, reports FAMMU/FAPA, based on information from Fruitinform.

Most frozen raspberries were exported in August (more than 2 thousand tonnes) and September (more than 1.8 thousand tonnes). Such a large increase in exports is the result not only of the good harvest in Ukraine, but also on the rising interest in the product from the European market in recent years.

Most frozen raspberries are delivered to the EU market, with Poland as the most important destination, as it purchased over 3.4 thousand tonnes (almost 50 percent of the total Ukrainian exports). Other big EU markets are Germany, with 0.6 thousand tonnes, and the Czech Republic, with 0.58 thousand tonnes. Moreover, about 0.2 thousand tonnes were shipped to Belarus for the first time in years.
