Aldi notched up record sales over the Christmas period after shoppers snapped up both luxury products and cut-price fruit and vegetables. The German supermarket said total UK sales were more than 15% higher during December compared to the same month in 2015. The Christmas 2016 selling season was very good for Costco. Sales rose 2% overall, 1% in the U.S., 5% in Canada 5% and 1% in “other” regions for the 18 weeks ended Jan. 1, 2017. Tesco to axe 1,000 jobs as it shuts distribution centres
Tesco is shutting two of its UK distribution centres in a move that will create more than 1,000 redundancies at the supermarket chain. At the same time Britain's biggest grocer is axing its warehouse relationships with logistics experts DHL and Wincanton and bringing all of those operations in-house.
