Spain: Ailimpo rewarded for good market practices
The Minister of Agriculture, Food and Environment, Isabel García Tejerina, will present the Interprofessional of Lemon and Grapefruit, Ailimpo, with a diploma accrediting its Code of Good Market Practices in Food Procurement, on the occasion of the first anniversary of this regulation.
The event will be held in Madrid and counts on the participation of all the companies and associations that have adhered to the code. The Ministry has defended this regulation as "a milestone" in the commercial relations of the food chain, "with which registered operators can enjoy significant benefits." In Spain, a total of 73 companies and associations have registered. Seven of them will receive the diploma.
Some of the commitments involved include trade practices, with the promotion of a strict compliance with contracts, or loyalty in the exchange of information between parties. It lays down additional commitments to ensure the quality of foodstuffs, to reduce the amount of food waste and to strengthen cooperation between operators in the face of market crises.
Ailimpo's CEO, José Antonio García, is satisfied with this ministerial recognition, and stressed that "we and our industry have been the most dynamic when it comes to enforcing it; in fact, we were the pioneers, because we recognise the benefits it brings."
