Greek produce may rot as Ferry strike continues

A strike in Greece is preventing the transportation of Greek fruit and vegetables grown on the islands. With the strike just extended to Friday by the The Panhellenic Seamenā€˜s Union (PNO) it could lead to produce rotting away with farmers unable to transport it.

The strike is a response from the Union to recent austerity measures made by the government which have changed their pensions, forced reductions in hours and pay, and are causing widespread illegal employment.
