Food recall of Broccoli Slaw

Sobeys Inc. is recalling Compliments brand Broccoli Slaw from the marketplace due to a chance of Listeriamonocytogenes contamination. While the recall is on, state consumers should avoid eating the product.

This recall was enacted by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) test results. The CFIA is performing a food safety investigation, which could lead to the recall of other infected products. If other high-risk products are recalled, the CFIA will notify the public through updated Food Recall Warnings.

The following product has been sold in Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia, Ontario, Prince Edward Island and Saskatchewan.

What to do?
If you think you have eaten contaminated food call your doctor. Symptoms can include vomiting, nausea, persistent fever, muscle aches, severe headache and neck stiffness. Pregnant women, the elderly and people with weakened immune systems are at a greater risk as the infection can lead to premature delivery, infection of the newborn or even stillbirth. In severe cases, illness can cause death.
