18 thousand tons of apples expected at MelaPiù

"The yield should be around 18,000 tons, in line with last year. Excellent Fuji apples are being harvested in the over 450 hectares dedicated to this variety. Harvesting will continue until late October," reports Melapiù Consortium President, Gianmauro Bergamini. Apples are of high quality with no peel defects and excellent flavour and juiciness.

The first batches are reaching MelaPiù distributors. The brand is owned by the Consortium and gathers six of the leading producers in Emilia-Romagna (Afe, Apo Conerpo/Agrintesa, Cico, Minguzzi, Patfrut, Pempacorer).

The harvesting of the Fujion variety has also started, albeit 8/10 days earlier than Fuji. It was introduced during the 2014/15 campaign and is a crossbreed between a Fuji and a resistant scab, making MelaPiù the only brand specialising in Fuji. The commercialisation of Fujion started in late September.
