India: Congress demands an adequate transport facility for fruit growers

A party spokesperson said the absence of an adequate transport facility and exorbitant freight costs, have caused huge losses for growers.

Expressing serious concern over these losses for fruit growers in Kashmir, the Congress party today asked the government to “help with the transportation of fruit from the Valley to outside markets."

Alleging that Private Transport Owners are charging exorbitantly for ferrying fruit to the outside, a PCC spokesperson blamed the government for not being serious about the losses caused to fruit industry.

He said government should ensure that growers do not suffer anymore losses and provide adequate transportation for the fruit.

The spokesman also expressed concern over the non-availability of essential goods in Dachan, Paader, Marwah and other remote areas in the districts of Doda, Kishtwar, Ramban and elsewhere in the State.
