This year's production volume of Shaanxi apples is estimated at 1100 tons, an increase of 4% to 8% compared with last year. Quality is also predicted to be up on last year, with 75% to 80% of the apples of excellent quality. This marks the 16th year of continuous production volume increase. Sales are also better than expected, up 10% on last year.
Because of the hot and dry weather, the early-ripe apples are going on sale 7 to 10 days later than last year. Prices dropped for a time, but quickly recovered and, overall, are much the same as last year. In the first half of this year, Shaanxi exported 50,000 tons of apples, which is 2.8 times more than last year. At the same time, 95,000 tons of apple juice was exported, which is an increase of 31% compared to last year.
