Peru: Camposol awarded most attractive employer in its sector

In late September, Camposol was awarded the prize “¿DÓNDE QUIERO TRABAJAR PERÚ? 2016” (“Where would I like to work? / Peru”), having reached the first place in the category of Fishery and Agroindustry.

The award is based on a survey carried out by the consulting firm Arellano Marketing who, in cooperation with the Peruvian Human Resources Association (AperRHu) and other entities, interviewed approx. 5,000 representative persons among the economically active population all over Peru, about the best companies where they would like to work.

The prize was awarded in 22 categories, and apart from Camposol the winners included several internationally renowned companies, such as BMW (automobiles) and JW Marriott (hotels), amongst others. One of the most important criteria for the interviewees, apart from factors like employment stability and salary levels, was the reputation of the company.

With more than 16,000 employees during the high season, Camposol is the third biggest employer in Peru and the first one in the agro-industrial sector. The company has continuously increased the number of jobs and is expected to keep on growing, since blueberries are a very labor-intensive product. Many of Camposol’s plantations are located in desert zones (thanks to the irrigation project Chavimochic), where stable jobs
were created for people who didn’t have access to formal jobs before.

Other factors that may have influenced the positive votes of the interviewees are several social benefits for the staff, such as affordable housing (built by the D&C Group, the main shareholder of Camposol), medical care, day nurseries “wawa wasi”, and “useful vacation” programs for the employees’ children. In addition, Camposol is a very gender-equitable company with 50% of the staff being women.
