Spain started early, but no enormous productions yet

“Low bell pepper production in Netherlands leads to favourable price”

The bell pepper market has been reasonably favourable recently. “Low production in the Netherlands has led to decent pricing. Demand is now mostly coming from the ‘regular’ European market, the US and Japan. Due to low production in the Netherlands and the rise of Spain, we have seen several retailers switching to Spain,” says Marco Bergman of Harvest House.

“It is expected that the bell pepper market will remain fairly stable in coming weeks. Spain experienced very high temperatures in September. Because of this, we will not have enormous productions in coming weeks. We are therefore looking positively at the next five to six weeks,” Bergman concludes.
