Giumarra Vineyards to highlight ARRA table grapes
At this year’s PMA Fresh Summit, Giumarra Vineyards will be highlighting three ARRA table grape varieties: the ARRA 15, ARRA 28, ARRA 29 and ARRA 32. “They’re newer varieties and they have a lot of great eatability and quality characteristics that we’re excited about,” said Mimi Dorsey, VP of Marketing & Director of Export Sales. ARRA 15 is a green grape variety, 28 and 29 are red grapes and the 32 is a black grape. Giumarra is licensing these varieties to other growers.
Their most proprietary product is ARRA 15. “It’s the one that’s already in production so a lot of people are already familiar with it. It’s also called the Sweetie brand,” said Dorsey. The grape is known for being very rain resistant, making it very popular in Brazil and Peru. Whereas many Chilean grapes suffered from the heavy rain and encountered quality damage last season, the ARRA varieties were of extremely high quality and garnered good prices in the market.
