Peru: Fruit, veg exporters target European market
From September 14-16, MacFruit's 2016 edition will take place in Rimini, Italy. Fruit and vegetable exporters from Peru will be taking part in this fair to promote their produce, the Exports and Tourism Promotion Board (Promperu), have announced.
The Andean nation, this year's appointed “partner country”, seeks to consolidate its position and increase its fruit and vegetable produce in the European market.
Said participation is consistent with the agri-food sector's strategy to enter new markets and consolidate its food product export offer through trade promotion events.
A total of 14 Peruvian companies from different regions will present a varied offer, comprising blueberries, organic bananas, citrus fruit, asparagus, mangoes, avocados and grapes, among others.
The Peruvian delegation's business will exceed US$15 million over the next 12 months, Promperu projected.
Participation is co-organised with the Peruvian Commercial Office Abroad (Ocex), headquartered in Milan.
Fair organiser Cesena Fiera highlighted the role of fruits and vegetables in Peru's development, as well as the country's status as a leading producer and exporter of produce.
