Tianjin inspection intercepts contaminated mangoes

A few days ago, during a hand luggage inspection at customs, the Inspection and Quarantine Bureau of the Tianjin airport found two cases of forbidden mangoes and a bag of guiyan fruits concealed in the hand luggage of a traveller. The mangoes were already spoiled and therefore carried a higher risk of disease. According to regulations, the Tianjin Inspection and Quarantine personnel have confiscated and detained the fruits.

The flight on which the mangoes were discovered came from Taiwan. When the Tianjin personnel inspected the traveller's luggage, they discovered two cases of mangoes and a bag of guiyuan fruit. They respectively weighed 6.6 kg and 1.9 kg. The mangoes had already become spotted with white stripes.

The spoiled mangoes were handed over to the Vegetation Inspection Centre of the Tianjin Inspection and Quarantine Bureau for testing. The other fruits will be buried and destroyed.
