Antonio Ruggiero working for potatoes not to be seen as a commodity

Could it be that finally potatoes are no longer being considered as a commodity? It looks like it if we talk about Antonio Ruggiero, which specialises in the production, processing and commercialisation of potatoes and onions. Last year, it handled over 100 thousand tons of produce.

"Italian consumers appreciates packaging that provides a lot of information on the product - how to use it, where it comes from, characteristics and useful tips."

"This is why we are constantly studying new packaging solutions. The sector keeps on evolving, just like our reference target."

Lately, the company has widened its range with the La Patata delle Marche brand. It includes La Patata Veneta Certificata QV, La Patata dell 'Emilia-Romagna, La Patata Toscana, La Patata D'Abruzzo and La Patata del Lazio brands. "The feedback has been great, as consumers appreciate the chance to rediscover local produce."

La Patata delle Marche will be one of the protagonists at the 2016 edition of Macfrut. The company will also present its wide assortment as well as recent projects and new products such as La Patata del Fucino Igp.

The company is now working on the new 2016/17 season. While it is still way too early to compare it to last season, it seems that "results are satisfactory both in terms of quality and yields."

"Potatoes are looking healthy, with good grades and shelf-life. It is still far too early for an assessment in Northern Europe, as we will have to wait for September to end. Good quantities were exported to Northern Europe and to France, Spain and Holland in particular, especially since their harvesting was delayed, just like in Great Britain."

Antonio Ruggiero SpA will attend Macfrut in Hall D5, stand 193.
