Succesfull PMA Fresh Connections Brazil

“We witnessed an incredible display of industry engagement in São Paulo this past week,” said PMA Vice President of Global Business Development Nancy Tucker. “In addition to the networking, our innovative group of speakers shared their own experiences with attendees, which provided an inside look at the global trends and ideas impacting today’s fresh produce industry.”

On august 18 last week, the PMA fresh connections took place in São Paulo last week. More than 180 participants which are related to the fresh produce industry came and participated at the event. Several educational sessions were held. The goal was to inform and help attendees to streamline their operations, create and/or increase demand for their products and as well to improve sales on the domestic markets as on the international market.

The following educational sessions were given:
- Professor David Hughes, Emeritus Professor of Food Marketing at the Imperial College London, England discussed merchandising and advertising methods to reach Brazilian consumers
- Carlos Visconti, Chief Operating Officer of Red Sun Farms, USA & Canada and Ivo Tunchel, Regional Manager of South America, Johnson Matthey, Brazil shared ways to increase fresh produce consumption while reducing food waste.
- Márcia Rossi de Sylvio the Quality, Food Safety and Health & Wellness Senior Manager of Walmart, Brazil and Helinton Rocha, Federal Agricultural Inspector, Ministry of Agriculture, Brazil highlighted building consumer confidence with trustworthy messaging and sustainability.
- André van Kruijssen, General Director, Veiling Holambra, Brazil and Paola Toller, P&D Manager, Natural One, Brazil offered insight on data collection and monitoring for business to run powerful operations.


Networking

The day started with a welcome reception and there were some breaks between the educational sessions. That were opportunities for the attendees to do some networking and even connect with representatives of some of the leading Brazilian retailers, such as Grupo Pão de Açucar, Walmart, Carrefour and Supemercados Nagumo.

The fresh connections Brazil is one of the annual events of the PMA, so it's possible to attend the next edition again in 2017.
