Prices fruit cultivation land in Valencia region decreased by 12%

Between 2011 and 2015 prices of cultivation land in the Valencia region decreased by 12.2 per cent. This figure was 2.2 per cent for Spain in total. In 2015, the highest prices were asked for citrus orchards (47,000 euro per hectare), and for fruit areas that are irrigated, such as for kaki (46,500 euro per hectare) in the Valencia region. These average prices are more than twice as high as the average in the Valencia region (19,983 euro per hectare). Prices for other orchards, such as citrus, orange and tangerine, decreased by 25 per cent during the above-mentioned period.

According to figures quoted in the report of the regional government, irrigated cultivation land is, on average, valued five times higher than non-irrigated land. “It is more than clear that the availability of water is an important factor for stable production.”
