Colombia: A fungus threatens onion
According to Carolina Cardona, secretary of rural development of Pereira, the appearance of this outbreak not only threatens onion crops but also garlic and scallions crops. So far eight farms have reported affectations caused by this fungus that starts as a white stain and later turns red affecting the crop's leaves.
Currently, authorities are conducting a full inspection of all crops in this rural area of Pereira with the ICA and taking the necessary measures to prevent the outbreak from spreading. In addition, authorities are seeking to establish the origin of the infected seeds to eradicate them from the area.
