Imported cherry price varies, and kiwi price increases

In Shanghai import market this week, orange sales start to slow down, so does the price of avocado. On the other hand, the cherry price varies as some are from the end of season in America and others from the prime season in Canada, and the price of kiwifruit from New Zealand goes up.

At this stage, American cherries shipped by sea has nearly come to an end, and its product quality varies, which leads to the varying price position, ranging from 300-500 Yuan. For Canadian cherries, they are new on the market and their quality is not entirely satisfying. According to the expectations of import companies, this may be related to the upcoming Mid-autumn season, and good quality Canadian cherries are stocked up for this season. As this is a traditional season for Chinese family reunions and friends visits, this means it will be a very important selling season for premium fruit.

Speaking of the avocado market, the majority of them are from Peru, because August is the window period for Mexican and Chilean avocado. Impacted by the hot weather conditions and the characteristics of avocado, its easier for avocado to mature and some of their skins darken, which influences sales. Currently its price is positioned at around 120 Yuan.

On the contrary, kiwi prices from New Zealand this week increased modestly. Two factors can be attributed to this: firstly August is considered the prime sales season for kiwifruit, and it is a normal market trend that the price will go up. Secondly, Zespri kiwi export is temporarily halted, and no exact export timing has been determined. Within this week, green kiwi price increased by around 10 Yuan, while gold kiwi for 15 Yuan.

Moreover, orange sales slow down within this week. Despite the fact that Australian oranges remain at around 300 Yuan, its sales volume is slower than last week. However, the price of South African oranges go down below the 200 Yuan range.
