Greek fresh fruit and vegetable exports have grown significantly in the first half of 2016 compared to 2015, with an increase of 22.2% in value and 42.9% in volume, according to the latest data of ELSTAT presented by INCOFRUIT-HELLAS. Exports in this period have totalled 940,466 tonnes worth 522.5 million Euro.
In particular, fruit exports have grown by 47.4% in volume and by 25.7% in value, totalling 787,644 tonnes worth 413.9 million Euro. Meanwhile, vegetable exports have increased by 23.5% in volume compared with the same months of 2015, totalling 152,822 tonnes, and by 10.6% in value, reaching 108.3 million Euro.
As regards fruit, the greatest increases in terms of volume were those of mandarins (+99.7%), oranges (+73.9%), strawberries (+12.7%) and apples (+8%). As for vegetables, the biggest growth corresponded to cucumbers (+30.2%) and tomatoes (+20.1%).
