Open Field Days in Giumarra Vineyards

The ARRA Open Field Day held on July 7th kicked off ARD's summer events in Giumarra Vineyards, Bakersfield, California.

Shachar Karniel, breeder of the ARRA varieties, guided the guests throughout the day

Every year, the ARD breeding site opens its doors to growers from around the world. The event attracts table grape producers interested in ARD's proprietary table grape varieties, known as the ARRA varieties. The varieties are commercialized worldwide exclusively by Grapa Varieties Company (excluding North America). Today the varieties are commercially grown with great success in all the major table grape producing regions, 25 countries in total in all 5 continents.

ARRA 30 in commercial production

July's Open Field Day was focused on showcasing the early season varieties in the ARRA line. Over 60 guests from 7 different countries attended the field day, a new record for this early season event. The impressive turnout this year undoubtedly resulted from the growing popularity of two of ARD's early season rising stars: ARRA 29 and ARRA 30. This year's guests were also invited to see the varieties in commercial production in vineyards in the region.

Shachar Karniel, breeder of the ARRA varieties, guided guests throughout the day and explained about the different cultivars. "I couldn’t be happier with the reactions to the early varieties", said Karniel. "I am especially excited about ARRA 29 and ARRA 30 which proved to be very successful in commercial production".

This field day is just a taste of the main event, to be held in mid-August. "This year, we are expecting many guests for the August ARRA field days", said Karniel. "After the success of the July event, we are eager to present our mid-season and late varieties". With over 6 decades of experience, Shachar Karniel is determined to continue breeding exceptional varieties and make a difference in the table grape industry.
