Tangy Twist melon about to hit UK's shelves

While melons are usually known for their subtle sweetness, the Gwanipa, ‘Tangy Twist’, offers a zingy citrus quality whilst still retaining that classic melon taste, complementing the taste of both other category offerings and citrus fruits - thus making it an excellent choice for a host of refreshing summer recipes.

TESCO & AMT Fruit, is set to bring the unique ‘Tangy Twist’ melon to the UK. Otherwise known as the Gwanipa, the fruit will be stocked exclusively in Tesco stores nationwide.

Cultivated in Spain, and exclusively grown by the Kernel Exports farms located in the southern regions of Spain such as Murcia and Castilla La Mancha.

The seasonal fruit is available from mid June through to August - the key months for seasonal summer produce.

TESCO Technical Manager, James Cackett:

“Spain is recognized for producing high quality fruit, and AMT supplying Tesco with such fruit ensures customers know that the new season has arrived, and they can start filling their fruit bowls with the best Spain has to offer!”

“The Gwanipa ‘Tangy Twist’ melon will associate the AMT and Tesco businesses with quality and a dedication to providing customers with the best quality seasonal produce at a reasonable price.”

The Gwanipa melon is a relatively new type of melon that has become quickly renowned for it’s seasonal and regional exclusivity and quality that has come to be associated with fruit produced in Spain.

Gwanipa ‘Tangy Twist’ melons are available exclusively, for this year, in Tesco stores, priced at £1.40 per fruit.
