"Besides tomato puree we now also make gazpacho"

In 2014 grower Kevin Schietecatte from Sint-Katelijne-Waver was often in the news with his tomato puree under the brand Tompuur. He chose to process part of his tomatoes and it is now a well known product in the region. As of recently the grower has added a new product to his assortment: gazpacho.



Introduction
This weekend the gazpacho will be introduced during the Molenberg celebration 2016 at Stokerij de Molenberg. "There is a regional product market there too and we will present the new product here for the first time. We are looking forward to seeing the responses. Our plan is to produce based on the demand of the market."

Full tomato flavour

The cultivation company Vermarke BVBA has 2.6 hectares of Elite tomatoes. "The variety we have is Foundation. This is a variety full of the tomato flavour. Foundation supplies large, red and tasty tomatoes. It is also the ideal base for our puree and gazpacho."



Systematic growth

A small part of the tomatoes are used for the production of Tompuur and Gazpacho. "Tompuur has grown gradually in recent years and we mainly supply to stores and some supermarkets. In the coming years we expect a systematic growth of this product and we also hope that the gazpacho will be a hit."
