Spain: Ardo becomes sole shareholder of Ultracongelados de la Ribera
Under the terms of the agreement between the two companies, Ardo has retroactively acquired the Bonduelle shares as of the 1st of January 2016 as well as the real estate assets of the site located in Benimodo. The transaction will result in the integration of the production plant into the industrial structure of Ardo, generating new opportunities for the Ardo Group. The existing production agreements will remain in force and the plant will supply products to Bonduelle for the next five years.
Today, UCR produces, on its site in Benimodo, nearly 30,000 tons of fresh frozen and prepared vegetables amounting to an annual turnover of more than € 35 Mio.
With a turnover of € 841 Mio in 2015, the Ardo Group (whose headquarters are located in Ardooie, Belgium) is the European leader in the production of fresh frozen vegetables, herbs and fruit. Today the Ardo Group has 20 production, distribution and packing units in 8 European countries, and sells 762,000 tons of fresh frozen vegetables, herbs, fruit, pasta and rice worldwide.
The Bonduelle Group, (whose headquarters are based in Villeneuve d'Ascq, France) is the world leader in processed vegetables, with a turnover of € 1,982 Mio for the financial year ended 30 June 2015. It operates 58 industrial sites and has a workforce of 9,500 employees worldwide. Its vegetables, grown on 128,000 hectares, are sold in 100 countries through all distribution channels using all technologies available (canned, frozen, fresh-cut, delicatessen prepared salads and snacking).
