Daan van de Loo, Loo-Pack

Collapsible fruit crate takes up half the space traditional crate

Since March Loo Pack has new collapsible crates in its product range. These come from Italy and according to Daan van de Loo it is a completely new product in its price range. “The collapsible crates already existed on the market, but they used to be less developed, not as solid and very expensive. They have now been further optimised, and they are an excellent quality product that rival normal plastic crates regarding solidity.”

Up to 500 kilo
The large advantage of this ‘economy bin’ is its collapsibility. “It takes up less space because of this compared to normal fruit crates. In addition, the product is solid and can easily contain loads of up to 500 kilo. This crate is also stackable. Remarkable are the many product varieties: open, closed and half open. The sizes for length and width are 120x100 and the height is available in sizes 60, 80 and 100 cm. The crates can be supplied with either legs or carriages, in several materials from HDPE to regranulate.”

Half the space
“The largest advantages are the savings that can be achieved by return transportation of the crates,” Van de Loo continues. “Additionally, storage is much more economical than traditional fruit crates: the collapsible fruit crate takes up half the space of a traditional fruit crate. Due to the versatility of the collapsible fruit crate applications are not just restricted to the fresh produce sector. The closed versions in particular would be very useable in the processing industry, such as automotive,” Van de Loo concludes.

This year Loo Pack will go to several fruit farming fairs with its new collapsible fruit crate, including the Apple Day 2016.
