Grower receives Produce for Better Health Role Model award
Southern Specialties announced the company was a recipient of the Better Health Role Model Award presented by the Produce for Better Health Foundation on April 6th in Scottsdale, Arizona at the foundation’s annual meeting. The award recognizes companies that have made a contribution towards increasing fruit and vegetable education, awareness and consumption.
“We are delighted to be among the leading companies in our industry selected to receive this recognition on the 25th anniversary of PBH.” said Charlie Eagle, vice president of business development at Southern Specialties “We believe the work they do truly makes a difference.” Southern Specialties features the foundations “More Matters” logo on the company’s Southern Selects value added packaging. The variety of colors, flavors and textures available throughout the Southern Selects microwave product line are a significant contributor towards increasing vegetable consumption.
The company works to increase nutritional awareness throughout its product line. A forty-three-page nutrition guide, compiled by Lana Chehabeddine, administrator of nutritional marketing for Southern Specialties has been prepared to help educate customers.
PBH is a national non-profit organization whose mission is to achieve increased daily consumption of fruits and vegetables for better health by leveraging private industry and public sector resources, motivating key consumer influences, and promoting fruits and vegetables directly to consumers.
