Poland: PSL requests lifting of EU embargo on Russia
The Polish party PSL has openly requested the lifting of EU sanctions against Russia.
The chairman of the PSL, Wladyslaw Kosiniak-Kamysz, said that Polish farmers have been the ones suffering the most from the ban on food exports to Russia. In his opinion, the duty of the Polish government is to take care of the interests of Polish agriculture.
"It is not acceptable that, after several years, the political conflict between the European Union and Russia has not been straightened out, and that Polish farmers and entrepreneurs continue suffering from it. The embargo and political matters should be dealt with in a different way," said the leader of the PSL.
The European Union imposed sanctions on Moscow in 2014 after the annexation of the Crimea to the Russian Federation. In response, the Kremlin introduced a ban on imports of fruit, vegetables, meat, poultry, fish, milk and dairy products from the US, EU, Australia, Canada and Norway.
