35 tons destroyed by China Custom authorities

Philippines not impressed by banana destruction

Chinese Customs authorities has allegedly destroyed 35 metric tons bananas from the Philippines, equal to two containers. This happened in the port of Shenzhen, in the South of the country.

The bananas did not meet China's phytosanitary requirements and contained too high levels of pesticides, according to China's state-run media CCTV.

According to Communications Secretary Herminio Coloma Jr. the amount is considered too small to damage trade relations between China and the Philippines.
