The Extraordinary Stonefruit Congress, organised by Agromarketing in partnership with the Council of Water, Agriculture and Environment of Murcia, exceeded all expectations, with 613 people registered for the technical conference held on Thursday 10 March at the Auditorium Victor Villegas of Murcia. Producers, exporters, technical experts, traders, auxiliary businesses and even students from integrated training centres and agricultural engineering degrees created a suitable atmosphere for networking.
Half of those registered for the Congress came from other regions, such as Catalonia, Valencia, Andalusia, Castile-La Mancha and Madrid, as well as other countries, like the UK, the Netherlands and Germany, which is testament to the great interest aroused by the presentations and workshops organised.
Noteworthy was the great reputation of the speakers, who came from universities like the UPCT, Miguel Hernandez or the University of Zaragoza; from Imida, Cebas, or from the Council of Water, Agriculture and Environment. Some were also given by Agrotecnología, Planasa, Kenogard and the Zero Waste Life Project.
Participation and impact
At the congress, which was opened by the Councillor of Water, Agriculture and Water, Adela Martínez-Cacho, the roundtables devoted to the new Chinese market for stonefruit, given the imminent approval of the protocols to export to the Asian giant, attracted plenty of attention. Apoexpa, Kiwa, China In Crowd and the Cartagena Port Authority gave a very interesting outline of the situation of the Chinese market for Spanish stonefruit.
Also popular was the roundtable on agricultural insurances, with the first public debate between Agroseguro and the agricultural organizations after the unprecedented frost registered in February in Cieza and the surrounding regions.
The live broadcast via streaming of the presentations, carried out by Bamboo Audiovisual, allowed up to a thousand people at certain times to follow the Congress at the Agromarketing YouTube channel.
