Apple program to help teachers, kids
Stemilt is launching a new promotion around its award-winning Lil Snappers® kid-sized fruit program that will help retailers thank teachers and serve up healthy snacks in schools during Teacher Appreciation Week in May. Stemilt will donate cases of kid-sized fruit to each retail chain that runs a Lil Snappers apple promotion between May 1-7. The promotion is designed to help retailers put the spotlight on educators in their community in honor of National Teacher Day on May 3rd.
“This new Lil Snappers promotion allows retailers to thank teachers for the great job they do in the local community throughout the year by providing a fresh donation of delicious, kid-sized apples to classrooms and schools. Apples are a symbolic gift to educators and teachers will be thrilled to provide their students with a healthy snack to fuel their body and minds,” said Brianna Shales, Stemilt communications manager.
Stemilt is encouraging retailers to build school-themed displays around Lil Snappers during Teacher Appreciation Week. In addition to highlighting the national event in their stores, retailers can utilize Stemilt POS signage to inform shoppers that their Lil Snappers purchase is helping to provide healthy snacks to classrooms in their community.
“The signage for this promotion is customizable and can feature the store’s logo. Using signage at the point-of-sale is a great vehicle for informing Lil Snappers shoppers – primarily parents – about the donation the retailer is making to local schools in honor of Teacher Appreciation Week,” said Shales.
Each box of Lil Snappers that is donated will include activity sheets that teachers can use as a classroom project, or for students to take home, Shales added.
Stemilt also plans to assist retailers in getting the word out about the school donations to their local community. The company can provide social media posts for retailers to use on their social channels, and can also distribute a press release in the market area of participating retailers.
Stemilt recommends promoting up to three Lil Snappers® apple varieties for this early May promotion. Pink Lady®, Gala, and Fuji are all kid-favorite varieties that Stemilt packs fresh to order during the spring season.
“May is a great time to promote these three apple varieties. We reserve our best quality fruit for the spring and summer seasons. The great flavors and high quality of the fruit inside each 3lb. Lil Snappers pouch bag combine with the convenience of this branded package to make Lil Snappers a sought after item in the produce department – and with this promotion – in the classroom too,” said Shales.
