If this situation continues for a longer period, they will be frozen to death. Currently as several major banana plantation areas suffered the extreme cold wave weather at the same time, banana produce in Yunnan province decreased 10% -15%, while Guangxi province banana yields reduced 25%. As a result, the banana price surged quickly.
At this moment, the average price of bananas is around 3.32 yuan per kilo, a 45% increase during the past 2 weeks. While consumer demands continue, imported banana sales are gaining popularity due to the low domestic banana yields.
