Only days after the Fruit Logistica fair came the BIOFACH fair. And again this year many companies in the fruit and vegetable industry used the largest fair in the world, for organic food, to present their products to a large audience.
“The fair was very well visited even though it was only a week after the Fruit Logistica in Berlin. All the major decision-makers from the food retail sector, the organic food trade, the recycling industry, the unions and political organizations came to Nuremberg to discuss the major trends and issues in the industry," states Frank Döscher manager of the distribution company Elbe-fruit. The Lower Saxony minister of agriculture Christian Meyer (Bündnis 90/Die Grünen) was one of the visitors at the Elbe-fruit stand at the fair.

About 48,000 visitors from over 132 countries travelled to Nuremberg this year. The figures of 2015 were satisfactory: last year an 11% increase was achieved in the organic food and beverages sector. According to the Association of the Organic Food Industry (BÖLW) the revenue was over 8 billion Euro.
About 2,544 exhibitors presented the latest products and trends in the industry at the BIOFACH 2016. The next BIOFACH fair will be in Nuremberg from 15-18 February 2017.
