"In a normal situation the daily trading volume is about 300,000 kilo. These days the trading volume is only 100,000 kilo," said Liu Weiyuan. The growth of cucumbers is affected a lot by weather circumstances. When the weather is good, the amount of cucumbers on the market is large. When temperatures are lower, the amount of listed cucumbers is lower.

But Liu Weiyuan said that however the recent cucumber price dropped from 3 Yuan per 0.5 kilo to 2.3 Yuan per kilo, this current downward trend will not last long. It is expected that cucumber prices will recover to around 3 Yuan per 0.5 kilo close to the New Year.
