To achieve this the state capital Düsseldorf and the market guild Düsseldorf (DG) will develop, together with experts, a concept for a future-proof wholesale market at the Ulmenstraße. The consumer affairs official Helga Stulgies: “The market in Düsseldorf is one of the 18 most important wholesale markets in Germany. And we want to expand on this advantage.”
The wholesale market guild is delighted with the commitment: “With the guarantee on the location we want to recreate the wholesale market and adapt it to the changing needs and tastes of customers - with even more variety and quality. This includes a wide range of healthy food and colorful plants.”
Reasons for the redesign is that the two oldest halls of the Düsseldorf wholesale market have to be demolished because a building report has found defects in these buildings from the 1950s. There is no acute danger of collapse. A third hall will be pulled down too. The traders in these halls will be divided over the free space in the other halls.
But first Daimler will temporarily use the new empty spaces for the Sprinter van model changel.
