Loo Pack seeks sustainable products to extend assortment

Packaging supplier Loo-Pack will be present at Fruit Logistica this year. Owner Daan van de Loo has chosen this national fair to make his product package for the fruit and vegetable sector more well known and to extend it. "I will be present as a representative of the Benelux at the Pollino stall in Hall 1.1/D03. I will also be present as a stall holder at the Vakbeurs Fruitteelt next week in Houten to make my products more well known."

Sustainable product
Packaging supplier Loo-Pack has been supplying various kinds of packaging in the Benelux. The focus here is on sustainability. One of his most well known products is the plastic fruit box. He believes the demand for this sustainable product will increase over the next few years. The company has been around for two years now and Daan is visiting various fairs to find new and sustainable packaging. "A good example of this is the Tubex tree protector from Spain, who asked us to represent them in Benelux at the last Fruit Attraction in Madrid. I have already had requests from customers for this great product. A tree protector is wrapped around the trunk of the young fruit tree near the base. This is to prevent nibbling and to protect against certain insecticides."

Advantages of plastic
Daan looks back at last year: "2015 was a special year with a lot of challenges. What is important is to present the advantages of a plastic box well and understandably. Growers will really be confronted with sharper demands in the area of food safety in the future. Fungus formation is possible on wood, it will be unacceptable in the future. I want to help the grower improve their business." He indicates that it sometimes takes a lot of patience and persuasiveness. "But the best thing is that you can contribute to their product of smooth apples, pears or hard vegetables."

Daan hopes to turn over a good year in 2016. "With the boxes, tree protector and other great products I can add to my assortment. It is a special challenge for me to offer the grower and the fruit and vegetables sector products that matter and are of innovative and added value."
