The season runs from March to January, the early crops starting in the north of the country, moving south to peak in August/September.
The company has focused on stonefruit historically and this year has been the first big commercial blueberry crop. "The season has exceeded expectations. The bulk of the blueberries were exported to the UK, Europe, Far East and Middle East. We are obviously still learning a lot, but the quality was good," Elaine Laubscher from United Exports.

The cultivars grown have been bred for shelf life of 42 days, which would allow exports via seafreight. The cultivar has been bred by “Early Blue” of Australia. United Exports is the exclusive license holder for South Africa, North & South America. The berries are currently being marketed under the “OZ blueberries” brand.
As intended the bulk of the blueberries hit the European market just as the Polish berries are ending, around August, and before the Chilean berries arrived.
