Taiwan grapes enter Mainland China for first time

At the beginning of 2016, a batch of Taiwanese Kyoho grapes with a total weight of 4.1 tons and a total value of more than 10,000 American Dollars was cleared by East Xiamen Inspection and Quarantine Bureau and officially entered the market. This is the first time grapes from Taiwan enter Mainland China.

The grape variety of this batch, the Kyoho grape, has a thick peel, comparatively soft pulp and a sweet taste. The grapes are very juicy and have a sweet smell. For the transportation cold chain logistic transportation was used, realizing point-to-point transportation and direct access to the Mainland market. This way it was guaranteed the grapes were fresh and authentic.

With regards to fresh grapes, this variety rots very easily, therefore fast cargo clearance is necessary. Because Taiwan is a preferable area of fruit trade, the East Xiamen Inspection and Quarantine Bureau got involved in advance. The bureau actively announced to import traders the latest news concerning quality inspection. They also conducted research to understand the actual needs of the companies and formulated the 'goods should be proper' inspection method, opened a green test and discharge channel and inspected Taiwanese grapes for the first time. After establishing the quality of the grapes met the standards, the grapes entered the market quickly.
