The bottle neck for the growth of the potato sector in Kenya and Tanzania is the lack of seeding goods and the lack of storage facilities. Storage facilities are necessary for the local potato farmers to stabilise and prevent low prices during harvest. Food security in Kenya and Tanzania can only be accomplished if the storage methods and techniques are largely improved and professionalised. Over the last 1.5 years, multiple investments of various Kenyan companies in modern storage methods at Dutch companies. They also indicated that they intended to at least double their storage capacity. More are expected to follow.

24 Kenyan and Tanzanian companies will come to the Netherlands where they will visit various companies over a week and be present at a seminar & matchmaking event on Tuesday 17 November:
During the mission a seminar and matchmaking event will be organised. This event will take place on Tuesday 17 November from 13:00 - 17:00, at the Rabobank in Emmeloord. During the seminar the opportunities in the potato sector in Kenya and Tanzania will be discussed and Dutch parties will have the opportunity to come into contact with the delegation.
