Expansion through cooperation

Brunsbuttel port: strong hinterland logistics

The Brunsbüttel Ports GmbH, owner and operator of the Brunsbüttel harbour as well as operator of Glückstädter harbour, is expanding its portfolio to include extensive storage capabilities in the nearby harbour Hinterland. Through the new cooperation with the China Logistik Centrum (CLC GmbH), the companies combine the competences of an international harbour and distribution hub with a storage- and distribution centre that operates worldwide. Situated on the former Pinovis grounds in Itzehoe at the A23 and B5, with a direct connection to the Elbe port, on a 220,000 square meter large plot of land, around 70,000 square meters of warehouses are arising which Brunsbüttel Ports can offer as part of its logistic services in the future.

“Both the location and the capacity of the new logistic centre optimally complement our activities. As cooperation partner with CLC, we are able to present our customers with an extensive range of logistic offers in the metropolis area of Hamburg”, reports Frank Schnabel, CEO of Brunsbüttel Ports. Through Brunsbütteler Elbe port, which is only a few kilometres away, the logistics providers guarantee a straight connection between sea port and Hinterland warehouses. Beside an open customs warehouse, CLC can handle further logistic-related services such as packaging, distribution and commissioning.

The short transport road to Brunsbütteler port and the fast connection with Hamburg are serious success factors for the location, which is to be established as a distribution centre for a wide variety of goods. Schnabel further explains: “The combination of synergies from CLC and from us as harbour operators and logistics specialists is an important step to do justice to the growing flows of products. Industry and shipping agents need fast routes and adequate space for the different kinds of products. In the near future, we will offer both.” With its size and qualities, the logistic center is equipped for handling piece goods, grouped goods, project cargoes as well as containers. Brunsbüttel Ports and CLC aim their collective range at both the local and international industry. Among others, the Chinese market will move into focus.
