"Demand for blueberries extremely high"

As is well known, summertime is also berrytime in Germany. Doesn't matter if they are red or black, big or small, currently the domestic berries are in exceedingly great demand. So too the berries of Marktvertrieb Dieter Schwerin GmbH from Duisburg. The trade- and service provider company has been active in this industry for over 35 years and is specialized in growing, trading and marketing highly sensitive berry fruits.

Blueberries
“The demand for blueberries is extremely large in Germany at the moment,” Michael Tessmann, CEO of Marktvertrieb Dieter Schwerin GmbH, explains. “Furthermore, German blueberry production is at the peak of its performance this week. After next week, the production quantities will drastically reduce and the main source of supply transfers to Poland.”

Strawberries
“Due to the weather, the season of 2015 is a very difficult season. Furthermore, because of the increased prices, demand is declining” as the expert describes. “When a 500 gram box of strawberries costs 2.99 Euro in the supermarket, they quickly don't buy any anymore. Moreover, in the minds of the consumers the German strawberry season is already finished. Although we can provide them until the end of September.”

Raspberries
Although problems with the strawberries, there is a calmer market for raspberries. “The situation is easier for raspberries,” Tessmann reports. “We are currently obtaining raspberries from German, Dutch and Belgian cultivation. Business is fairly calm and steady. There is not an overly large demand, but also no immense pricing pressure.”

Blackberries
“Trade in blackberries is always a modest business,” the expert explains.”Blackberries are unfortunately not a “runner article”. There are enough products available to meet the market demand without any problems”. Like raspberries, the blackberries of Marktvertrieb GmbH currently come from Germany, the Netherlands and Belgium.

Michael Tessmann portrays the coming weeks: “Our kiwi-berries will be available from calendar week 37 or 38 onward. From next week onward, the first blueberries from Poland will come along, and besides our German strawberries, which we can supply until the end of September, there will then also be Dutch strawberries from the greenhouse.”
