A cloudless, sunny sky set the perfect scene for the unveiling of a 1-megawatt solar energy rooftop installation above the greenhouses of Windset Farms on Tuesday.
"Windset is proud to call Santa Maria its home, and we're proud of investing in the continual development and expansion of our operations here in the valley," said David Wesley, the director of projects for Windset Farms. "We're just one of several farms on the Central Coast who have made substantial investments in sustainability by implementing large solar installations to reduce energy demand."
Windset Farms worked with REC Solar, a national solar electric design and installation company with an office in San Luis Obispo, to create its new solar program.
