Serbia’s raspberry harvest up 7% this year
Preliminary estimates of Serbia's raspberry and cherry harvest for the current season have already been published.
According to this data, Serbia's raspberry harvest this year will grow by more than 7 percent. As announced by the Serbian Statistical Office, this year approximately 66.2 thousand tonnes of the fruit will be harvested. The average yield stands at about 5.99 kilos per hectare, and the total area planted with raspberries in Serbia has been estimated at 11.04 thousand hectares.
As for cherries, the harvest in 2015 is expected to be 2.3 percent greater, reaching 91.8 thousand tonnes. The total acreage stands at 13.99 thousand hectares, from which a yield of 6.56 kilos per hectare will be obtained.
Overall, this year's fruit harvest in Serbia will be positive, with the exception of apricots, and the total cultivated acreage for all fruits in the country has been estimated at 163 thousand hectares, including 77 thousand hectares of plums, 18 thousand hectares of apples and the already mentioned 11 thousand hectares of raspberries.
