New crop of tradtional Breton shallots started

The harvest of the traditional shallots has begun at the end of week 29 in Brittany, France. It’s going slowly as the weather is changing a lot between rain and sun, according to Pierre Batadiere form Daniel Cadiou.

"Regardless of the weather, once we have harvested, we can supply a dry product after 2-3 days thanks to our ventilated cells," stated Pierre. So far the yield is lower than last year, which had a very big volume. Still it seem to be also lower than an average one, due to the very dry spring.

"The current variety harvested is the Long one which represents more than the ¾ of Traditional shallots grown in Brittany." Daniel Cadiou is already proposing its full-range of packagings with the new crop long shallots, from the 250 g to the big bag. The new crop of organic traditional long shallots are also available.
